WACO, TX – When they talk about a “big fella” playing football, this is the guy they’re probably talking about.

Baylor has a very special tight end that won’t be at Baylor much longer. LaQuan McGowan declared for the NFL draft this winter and with that comes the standard combine and pro day. But what makes LaQuan so special? How about 6’7″ and 405 pounds.

The senior is listing himself as a tight-end entering the draft and held his pro day this week at Baylor’s facilities, where he ran a respectable 5.36 40-yard dash. Now a 5,36 may not sound too fast after players at the combine are casually running times of 4.4s, but for McGowan’s size, his time is impressive.

The average athletes 40 time is most likely somewhat close to a 5.3, and the average athlete is most likely not carrying 405 pounds one their frame.

McGowan is so big, that his coaches at Baylor implemented a no-contact policy on his, for the safety of their own defenders.

Here’s a look at him in action:

Though impressive with his size and relative speed, McGowan is projected to go somewhere in the 7th round and if not as a free agent after the draft ends, if that means joining an NFL squad as a tight end or an offensive guard. One does not simply pass up on this size as an NFL scout.
