Air Force To Wear Awesome Fighter Plane Inspired Helmets vs. Georgia State Next Season

The Air Force Falcons take to the field before the start of a NCAA college football game between the Air Force Falcons and the Utah State Aggies at Falcon Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 in Air Force Academy, Colo. The Aggies defeated the Falcons 52-20. (Kent Nishimura, The Gazette)

The Naval Academy gave us arguably the coolest helmet design in all of college football last season, with a whole fleet of hand-painted battleships and differentiating helmets based on position. The upcoming college football season hasn’t even started yet and Air Force may have already claimed that spot for 2016.

The Falcons announced Sunday they will wear these awesome “tiger fighter” helmets and uniforms that pay homage to nose art painted on World War II P-40 fighter planes, most notably for the Flying Tigers squadron as mentioned by Knowlton.
