Patriots WR Josh Gordon Stepping Away From NFL

After losing their last two games, the Patriots are limping towards the playoffs having lost five games for the first time in ten years. This won’t make it any easier.

Josh Gordon has announced he is stepping away from football to focus on “mental health” reasons amid reportedly facing yet another suspension due to violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

The Patriots star WR was acquired mid-season after being cut by the Cleveland Browns.

Since being drafted by the Browns in 2012, the 27-year-old has missed 53% of his games of the course of his career due to drug-related suspensions and leaves of absences. Gordon led the entire NFL in receiving yards in his second season and caught 40 passes for 720 yards with three touchdowns in 11 games with the Patriots.
