Cam Newton Says LeBron James, Not Steph Curry Is The Best Player In The NBA

Cam

As you all know, Steph Curry is a native of North Carolina and a huge fan of the Carolina Panthers, but that is not enough to convince Panthers quarterback and reigning NFL MVP Cam Newton that the Golden State Warriors superstar is better than LeBron James.

Cam told WFNZ-AM radio’s The Mac Attack:

“A person asked me, ‘Well, is Steph Curry the best basketball player on the planet?'” Newton said. “I said, ‘No.’ I said, ‘Steph Curry is the best basketball player on the best team on the planet.’

“I still think LeBron is [the best player]. He’s 6-7, athletic, can do anything on the court. But LeBron is not on the best team. Going back to what I was saying, the power of team will always be better than the power of skill.”

The Panthers even had Steph Curry bang on their “keep pounding” prior to the start of Super Bowl 50 last February.

Cam also emphasized the importance of team and stated that he would prefer to be in Steph Curry’s situation rather than LeBron James’ situation.

A smart move by Newton, who is good friends with both Steph and LeBron.

So far in the NBA Finals, James as outperformed Curry, who’s averaging just 16 points with five turnovers per game through the first three games.

But despite Curry’s struggles, the Warriors still lead the series 2-1, backing Newton’s comments about team vs. individual player.
