UFC 229 was pure chaos in the wee hours of Sunday morning as Khabib Nurmagomedov defended Connor McGregor in one of the most highly anticipated fights in the sport’s history. It’s what happened after the fight that’s been talked about though.
Nurmagomedov forced McGregor into a submission via a chokehold, then immediately started jawing with Dillon Danis, Conor’s jiu jitsu coach and Bellator welterweight.
The words escalated into mayhem when Khabib jumped out of the ring to fight Danis the crowd with the two exchanging punches before they were broken up by security.

Meanwhile two members of Nurmagomedov’s crew jumped into the ring on the other side of the octagon to attack McGregor, one landing multiple cheap-shot punches on the Irishman from behind.

Understandably so, UFC President Dana White decided not to present Nurmagomedov with his belt post-fight for security concerns. The two men that attacked McGregor were taken into custody but were released from jail after McGregor decided not to press charges.
It remains to be seen if Khabib will be able to keep the title following his antics with his purse has already having been withheld. Charges can still be filed against Khabib as the Nevada Athletic Commission has launched their investigation to sort out the mess.
