Cleveland Browns To Work Out Free-Agent Kicker Blair Walsh

The Cleveland Browns are in search of a new kicker Monday, and rightfully so after Sunday’s kicking debacle that cost the team their first will in over 250 days.

Zane Gonzalez missed the both the potential game-winning extra point and game-tying FG for the Browns Sunday against the Saints, capping of a miserable stat line of 2-5 on FGs and 3-5 on extra points through two games this season.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the team has moved on the second year Arizona State product who was taken by the Browns in the seventh round of the 2017 draft.

The Browns have turned focus to getting a new kicker before Thursday night’s game against the Jets, bringing in both Blair Walsh and Cairo Santos.

Walsh was cut by the Seahawks after the 2017 season while Santos was released by the New York Jets this off-season.

Ironically, Walsh is infamous for missing kicks in big spots, notably missing a kick that would have sent his Vikings to the NFC Championship game in 2016.

Free agent kicker Dan Bailey, the most accurate kicker in NFL history, was released by the Cowboys before the season but has declined the Browns’ offer, saying he’s “waiting for the right team.”
