Did Pete Carroll Give The Middle Finger Back To Earl Thomas During His Postgame Interview?

The drama between the Seattle Seahawks and Earl Thomas culminated to a flip of the bird Sunday while the safety was being carted off the field.

Thomas gave the gesture in the direction of the Seattle sideline, of course related to the contract disputes that plaqued the relationship of the two during the offseason.

Though it’s likely nothing more than a scratch of the nose, we’d like to think head coach Pete Carroll returned the favor, giving Thomas a middle finger of his own during the coach’s post game interview.

Semiotics, the study of signs and symbols and their use or interpretation, actually does back up this potentially harmless gesture, noting that people do often subliminally use their middle finger in reaction to a situation they object to with actually realizing he or she is doing so.
