DAVIE, FL – Just one third into his first season in Miami as a Dolphins, the perennial Pro-Bowler Arian Foster is calling it quits.

The longtime Texan who was plagued for the majority of his career with injuries, was looking for a new start to his career this offseason but it seemed as if the injury bug followed him in South Florida. After starting the Phins’ Week 1 game in Seattle, Foster was inactive for the next five.

The emergence of Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi, who produced one of the best two-game stretches in NFL history, also hindered Foster’s chance at being the team’s starting back once he returned from injury.

He released a statement Monday night via UNINTERRUPTED:

Foster’s time in Miami will likely be defined by his decision to sit during that National Anthem on September 11th over his time between the white lines which was minimal.
