Floyd Mayweather Reportedly Offers Conor McGregor $50M To Fight Him On New Year’s Eve

Rumors have been circulating that a mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor is in in the works, and Mayweather has now reportedly offered the UFC featherweight champion a boatload of cash to make it happen.

According to TMZ Sports:

Floyd Mayweather has a $50 MILLION offer out to Conor McGregor, sources tell TMZ Sports … but it’s going to take a lot more to seal the deal. We’re told Floyd is proposing a New Year’s Eve fight in Vegas and Conor is game. We’re told Floyd’s $50 million offer is far less than half the amount the fight would rake in … and therein lies the rub.

Mayweather has yet to bring it up to UFC president Dana White, who must approve the fight of any UFC-contracted fighter.

White recently sat down with ESPN’s Russillo & Kanell and sounded less optimistic that this fight was going to happen:

Let me put it to you this way. Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweatherare in the same sport. It took how long for those two to fight? Now imagine how hard it would be to get (Mayweather and McGregor) to fight. They’re not in the same sport. …

… Is this thing going to be MMA or boxing rules? Who’s getting the lion’s share of the money? This and that. It’s impossible. But like I’ve said, “Floyd, you want to fight Conor, call me.”

Despite both fighters publicly acknowledging that they want this fight to take place, there’s still a lot of hash out before a date can be set.

What I find astonishing is yet again Floyd wants to fight on his terms: his location, his referee, his fighting style (boxing) and most of all on his date.

We’ll see if Dana White abides by Floyd’s demands, I, personally won’t get my hopes up just yet.
