More trouble for the once special talent, Aldon Smith, who was detained by police in San Francisco around 8:00 AM Thursday morning after a car he was riding in smashed into a cop car and the officer says Smith was drunk at the time.
The troubled Oakland Raiders was not driving the car at the time of the crash, however cops did arrest the driver for DUI.
The bigger issue for Smith is the alcohol allegations.
The 27-year old has struggled with substance abuse and is currently serving a suspension of violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
After being released by authorities, NBC Bay Area caught up with Smith, who gave an awkward interview, where it was clear that he was intoxicated:
A truly embarrassing moment.
A seventh-overall draft pick in 2011 and a first-team All-Pro in 2012, Smith may have played his last down in the NFL even though he is still under contract with the Oakland Raiders. He recorded an impressive 47.5 sacks in 59 career games played from 2011-2015, leaving many fans to wonder how such a brilliant flash of light could have burnt out so quickly.
