You wouldn’t think someone who spends each and every day with their heads in dictionaries upon dictionaries would even have time to watch sports. Like us spelling most of the words in those dictionaries, we’d be wrong.
Kids that are smarter than all of us combined faced off in the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee Thursday night, resulting in a battle of 24 final rounds finalizing with a co-champion 2016 winner.
The two champions of the 2016 Scripts National Spelling Bee, Jairam Hathwar and Nihar Janga noted their two favorite athletes were Jordan Spieth and Dez Bryant, respectively.
Upon being named co-champion, Nihar paid homage to his idol, throwing up Cowboys signature TD celebration, the “X,” immediately after spelling the final world correctly.
And Dez took notice!
#NiharJanga you just made my whole day buddy.. Congrats on winning the #spellingbee champ.. Some how some way I have to get you to a game #x
