Coming off a historic Super Bowl LI victory over the Atlanta Falcons, the New England patriots put together an incredible offesason. They traded for star wide receiver Brandin Cooks and signed star cornerback Stephon Gilmore.
But prior to signing Gilmore, the Patriots were looking for a much bigger acquisition.
According to reports, the Patriots contacted the Seattle Seahawks about a potential trade that would have sent Richard Sherman to New England:

Could you imagine that secondary with Richard Sherman in the mix?
The Patriots were obviously not able to reach a deal with the Seahawks but neither were a number of other teams that contact Seattle for a potential trade for the all-pro corner:

As for now, it doesn’t seem like Sherman will be going anywhere but it is pretty interesting that the Seahawks were willing to deal one of the leaders of their defense.
