You have to be bad to have to fake fan attendance numbers in a market like New York City, but the Jets, well, are that bad.
30,000-40,000 Jets fans were expected to come out to the team’s first preseason game Saturday night against the Tennessee Titans, but according to pictures taken at kickoff, the numbers of butts in the seats didn’t come close to that.
Low attendance for the Jets first preseason game. 30,000-40,000 expected, we'll see if it even hits that. pic.twitter.com/AfvxxM2PzR

It appears that in effort to boost the final attendance figure, Jets staffers falsified the numbers of fans entering the stadium. A Jets staffer working the gates was caught on camera repeatedly scanning unsold tickets in order to make it appear as if more fans were in attendance.
This is why 15,000 attendees is reported as if it were 30,000 #NYJets #inflation pic.twitter.com/spiUPGayKr
