Well, it seems as if most of us will have an extra free 15 minutes to grab a beer from the fridge and sit on the pot during this year’s Super Bowl.

First broken by Us Weekly, Lady Gaga will in fact be the Super Bowl 51 headline halftime performer.

Following much speculation following a story weeks ago from Billboard that she had been asked by the NFL, the 30-year-old Grammy winner will take the stage on February 5th, 2017 at NRG Stadium in Houston.

Gaga made a Super Bowl appearance at last year’s Super Bowl 50, when she performed a powerful rendition of the National Anthem pregame.

“This is one of the highest honors of my career,” Gaga says. “I get a chance to sing for all the athletes — who have been working so hard their whole lives for this moment — the coaches, as well as the fans in the stands who are waiting for this moment. I think it marks what being an American is all about.”

The NFL seems to be catering the halftime show to the most mainstream, relevant icons of the day as the Super Bowl has become a spectacle more so than an actual football game. Having a performer that has a fan demographic mostly made up of women also ensures even higher viewership numbers for some Lady Gaga fans who wouldn’t tune in otherwise.
