It’s bitter sweet being taken in the NFL draft by your favorite NFL team. Why the bitter part?

It may be a little awkward at Cowboys training camp having you being drafted to be the backup quarterback being the same guy you blasted on Twitter a few years back. And in this age of social media and this glorious thing called “screenshots,” you can bet Romo knew about it.

Prescott apparently “gave up” on Romo and the Cowboys after Dallas lost to Washington in the 2012 regular season finale. Romo threw three interceptions in the game.

Prescott deleted the original tweets after the draft.

After his first practice with the Cowboys, Prescott was asked about the tweets and responded by saying, “I was a frustrated fan at the time,” Prescott said, via the Dallas Morning News. “I’m sure you can go back and look at fans of Mississippi State and they may have said something similar at one point or another, so I was just being a fan. And now he’s my teammate and I’m behind him 100 percent.”

When asked on if he and Romo would discuss it, he noted, “I’m going to let him bring it up. I think it’s funny,” Prescott said. “I’m sure he’ll think it’s funny.”
