One of the referees in charge of the Bills-Patriots game in New England was at loss for words when the ruling came down that Kelvin Benjamin’s touchdown had been overturned.

Footage from Showtime’s Inside the NFL shows both Tyrod Taylor and Sean McDermott talking to down judge Mark Hittner about Benjamin’s reception in the end zone.

In the above clip, Bills QB Tyrod Taylor admits to the official that play is close, but points out Benjamin’s feet touching down in bounds. When asked for his thoughts on the play, the referee tells Taylor:  “That’s a hell of a throw, and a catch, I thought.”

Following the ruling, McDermott approached the referee and asked: “How is that incomplete?”

Hittner, seemingly surprised by the reversal, says, “I don’t know.”
