Cowboys Reportedly Discussing Going After OU Head Coach Lincoln Riley If Jason Garrett Is Fired

The Dallas Cowboys are looking to avoid a 3-6 start when they take on the Eagles on Sunday Night Football, and if they do drop another, Cowboys fans will undoubtably be calling for Jason Garrett’s job.

Although owner and GM Jerry Jones has stood behind his head coach and assured him he’ll be the coach for at least the remainder of the season, this report should enthuse the fans down in Dallas.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, both Stephen Jones and Jerry Jones are “intrigued” by Oklahoma Sooners lead man Lincoln Riley as a replacement for Garrett if they decide to move on from him this offseason.

Rapoport appeared NFL Network’s Good Morning Football Sunday morning to speak on the matter.

Rapoport also noted that Garrett could also take over play-calling duties from offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, whom he team considered firing before the season started and during the team’s bye week.

With the Sooners sitting at 9-1 atop the Big Twelve standings, Riley is the hottest coaching candidate for an NFL gig, also being mentioned in talks with the Cleveland Browns vacancy.
