After two years of turmoil because of players continuing to kneel during the playing of the National Anthem, the NFL is considering making a rule change to put the entire situation to rest.
According to Jim Trotter of ESPN.com, the league may force players to stay in the locker room during the playing of the National Anthem to avoid the continuing backlash they have received:
I continue to hear from knowledgeable people that the league plans to keep players in the locker room next season during the playing of the National Anthem. https://t.co/Cs3ZSqefsC

The idea of keeping players in the locker room during the Star Spangled Banner has been something that has been floating around for some time and even had the President of the United States sharing his two cents about the whole ordeal:
The NFL is now thinking about a new idea – keeping teams in the Locker Room during the National Anthem next season. That’s almost as bad as kneeling! When will the highly paid Commissioner finally get tough and smart? This issue is killing your league!…..

Whether or not this will help the NFL’s recent ratings drop is to be determined but one can imagine that there will still be an unhappy crowd regardless what the league decides to do.
