The Giants Just Hinted That An Eli Manning Benching Could Be Coming

The New York Giants are 3-8 and in the midst of yet another nightmare season with an aging Eli Manning at the helm. After yet another losing season, the time for a change at quarterback could be coming.

In a somewhat surprising decision, the Giants made fourth-round rookie quarterback Kyle Lauletta active for the first time this season as the team is set to face the Chicago Bears at MetLife Stadium.

Lauletta’s promotion to the No. 2 spot on the depth chart, behind Eli Manning, comes 33 days since he was arrested for various traffic violations.

If the Giants lose to the Bears, they would be officially eliminated from postseason contention and the door could be open for Lauletta to replace Manning as the starter next Sunday against Washington.

Giants fans remember last season when then-head coach Ben McAdoo decided to bench Eli Manning but did it in favor for Geno Smith instead of the rookie, Davis Webb causing an uproar from the fanbase.

For the moment, it seems like this regime might be making the smart decision with Manning, benching him in favor for the rookie quarterback instead of the journeyman Alex Tanney.
