Malcolm Butler, arguably the New England Patriots most important defensive player, saw just a single snap during Super Bowl LII, and fans, and frankly Butler himself, are still trying to figure out why.
Bill Belichick gave his reasoning is his usual general, cryptic manner, saying he did what was best for the team. That soon developed into Butler’s benching stemming from a culmination of a bad week of practice, an illness and a missed curfew.
The cornerback released an official statement Tuesday via his social media accounts refuting the statements made by his head coach.

To add to the drama, quarterback Tom Brady ‘liked’ the post.

Other Patriots players like Dont’a Hightower as well as former ones such as Brandon Browner have come to the defense of Butler, both with statements and likes of their own on his posts.
