Troy Aikman Calls Out Dak Prescott: “He Needs To Be More Accurate”

The Dallas Cowboys’ offense is struggling.

Owner Jerry Jones, Executive VP and COO Stephen Jones along with HC Jason Garrett and OC Scott Lineham have all drawn criticism for their contributions to these struggles. The Jones’ put this roster together. Garrett and Linehan designed the offense and Linehan calls the plays.

But they’re not the only ones struggling. Quarterback Dak Prescott has completed just 61.6 percent of his passes at only 6.7 yards per attempt with just five touchdowns to go along with four interceptions in five games.

Legendary Cowboys QB Troy Aikman thinks the quarterback garners most of the blame. Here’s what Aikman had to say during a radio appearance this week:

“He needs to be more accurate with the football,” Aikman said. “I’ve said for many, many years, as long as I can ever remember, when I’m asked, ‘Hey, what do you look for first in a quarterback?’ The first thing I look for is accuracy, because the rest of it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter how tough you are. It doesn’t matter how smart you are or what a great leader you are. None of that stuff matters if you can’t put the ball where you have to put it. I’ve seen too many errant throws in that regard, and then there needs to be a little more anticipation.”
