Ted Wells: Patriots Likely Deflated Balls During AFC Championship Game

Ted Wells as completed his four month investigation into whether the New England Patriots were involved in the deflation of multiple game balls during last season’s AFC Championship Game and according to the report, the Patriots were found to have likely deflated the footballs.

The report included several interviews with numerous members of the Patriots staff, as well text messages and phone records from the equipment staff, who were directly involved with the footballs during the AFC Title Game.

According to the Wells Report, “We do not believe there was any wrongdoing or knowledge of wrongdoing by Patriots ownership, Bill Belichick or other Patriots coaches.” However, “it is more probably than not” that the locker room attendant, equipment assistant and Tom Brady was aware of releasing air.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft released this statement after the releasing of the Wells Report:

Throughout the process of this nearly four-month investigation, we have cooperated and patiently awaited its outcome. To say we are disappointed in its findings, which do not include any incontrovertible or hard evidence of deliberate deflation of footballs at the AFC Championship game, would be a gross understatement.
