This look will be hard to top. They are so ugly that they’re awesome.
Hawaii football on Thursday released the retro uniforms that the Rainbow Warriors are wearing for game vs the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes today.
The news release from the school described the look thusly:
The all-white Under Armour uniform will feature rainbow stripes on the shoulder pad and rainbow stripes down the sides of the pant. The white top is patterned after the kelly green home retro set the team has been sporting for the past two seasons.
A white helmet with green facemasks and 1980s rainbow logo will accompany the uniform.
The rainbow has a varied past with Hawaii football. According to a story in the Honolulu StarAdvertiser, the football team was unofficially known as the Rainbow Warriors until 2000, when coach June Jones got the football team to officially go only by Warriors.
