Cam Newton announced Wednesday that he and his longtime girlfriend Kia Proctor will be expecting a son.
This comes after a few speculators let their hypothesis known while Newton celebrated a TD last Sunday vs the Falcons by rocking the football like a baby. With the announcement he also revealed the name of his 9-pound, 6-ounce son to the Charlotte Observer, which well, is odd. Ready?
Chosen Sebastian Newton
…yes, ‘Chosen’ is his first name.
Newton left practice last Thursday to be with Proctor for the child’s birth in his hometown of Atlanta.
Newton joked Thursday that Chosen might have been blessed with his father’s preternatural athletic gifts.
“When you see life come into existence, it’s a wonderful thing,” Newton said. “These past couple of days have been so monumental for me. I took him out for a jog yesterday. He was running alongside me.
“He has a couple of scholarship offers already on the table. … He can dunk, too.”
Newton and the Panthers are 14-1 this season, and finish the regular season Sunday at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 2010 Heisman Trophy winner is the likely NFL MVP this season, having passed for for 3,544 yards and 33 touchdowns with another 626 yards and eight TDs rushing.
