A USC lineman was tossed from Saturday’s game for shoving an official. This one’s a whole lot worse.
San Antonio Community College offensive linesman Bernard Schirmer didn’t just have a flag pulled on him during his team’s game vs Ventura College, but rather a pair of handcuffs.
Schirmer, a freshman, punched a referee during the third quarter sSaturday after he was upset with the way an official was holding him back. He was arrested by police on-site for suspicion of battery in California.
A video of the play shows the referee pushing the 6-foot-5 and 270-pound player back to his huddle when Schirmer allegedly threw a powerful punch while surrounded by his teammates in white and red jerseys.

“Oh my God,” exclaimed a broadcaster describing the play-by-play. “The ref just got punched in the face by a player! What?! I’ve never seen anything like that in my life!”
