Adrian Peterson will hit the free agency market in a week when the Vikings declined to pick up his $18 million dollar option.
With the running back on the tail end of his career, Peterson is either looking to land one last huge contract or win a ring. The latter may be a possibility with the New England Patriots.
Having Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and Adrian Peterson all on the same team sounds more like a fantasy than anything, but a source close to Peterson told Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald that the running back would certainly consider taking a team-friendly deal to sign with the Patriots and try to win a Super Bowl.
Peterson may want the Patriots, but as strange as it seems, it’s unclear whether the Patriots will want Peterson. The perennial injury concerns paired with the dark cloud of child abuse attached to Peterson could weigh heavy in the minds of those in Foxboro.
Peterson on the Patriots will likely look like either of two things – yet another Lombardi trophy being hoisted up in (ironically) Minnesota next season, or an expensive friend for Gronk to sit with while the two find themselves on the IR.
