After his release from the Chicago Bears, QB Jay Cutler had a tough time finding a new home and decided he was content with retirement as he signed a broadcasting deal with FOX Sports.
Then Ryan Tannehill got hurt and the Miami Dolphins and their head coach Adam Gase came calling. Gase, as you know by now has a history with Cutler dating back to their days in Chicago.
Cutler revealed that it was ultimately his wife, Kristin Cavallari who talked him into signing the 1-year, $10 million contract because according Jay, he was “mentally finished with football.”

“The last four months I’ve been in a different mindset, getting ready for the Fox deal, I was pretty good with where I was in my life; I was around the kids a lot and felt pretty content. So I went back and forth on this. My wife talked me into it more than anybody else. … I think she got tired of me being around the house.”
At least he is honest.
