One of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history went down Sunday with an injury that will sideline him at minimum eight games, if not the entire rest of the season.
Aaron Rodgers was diagnosed with a broken clavicle after being tackled by Anthony Barr of the Vikings, a hit Rodgers was not fond of.
Immediately after the injury, two words swirled around the team – ‘Romo’ and ‘Kaepernick’.
While Romo is retired and seemingly comfortable in the booth with CBS as a color commentator, the former Cowboys QB did hint on a recent call that he may not have thrown his last pass in the NFL. Kaepernick on the other hand, is not retired and has made it known that he’s ready. The only hold up? The obvious baggage he brings to the team following the controversy with him kneeling during the National Anthem to protests social injustice and inequality in 2016, a trend that still continues around the league today.
Regardless, some Packers fans are hoping their team signed the former Super Bowl QB, even starting a Change.org petition to bring him to Green Bay. In just 24 hours, the petition has gained over 6,000 signatures.
Ironically, Kaepernick grew up a Packers fan, documented by a photo of a young him outside Lambaeu field for a game in Wisconsin, the state where he was born.
