Bill Belichick Unimpressed With Tom Brady Playing Through Hand Injury: “It’s Not Open Heart Surgery”

All week long, people wondered how badly injured was Tom Brady’s hand after he injured it during practice in preparation for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.

Brady was magnificent, throwing for 290 yards and two touchdowns, overcoming a 20-10 deficit in the fourth quarter, all while dealing with 12 stitches in his throwing hand.

But despite all that, his coach wasn’t really impressed when asked about Brady’s injury.

Here’s the full exchange:

Reporter: “Bill, did anything to change gameplan-wise because of Brady’s hand?”

Belichick: “Not that I’m aware of, Bob.”

Reporter: “Can you just speak to the resourcefulness of Tom, dealing with that midweek and then coming out and having a huge game like that?”

Belichick: “I mean, look, Tom did a great job. And he’s a tough guy. We all know that. But we’re not talking about open-heart surgery.”
