Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield has become an easy target for criticism over his collegiate career at Oklahoma and while sometimes, the criticism is warranted, there are other times when it’s flat out ridiculous and unfair.
And this is one of those times.
Cleveland Browns blogger Damon Kecman sent out this lengthy tweet blasting the former Sooners quarterback for being late to the Senior Bowl, accusing Mayfield for making the event “all about him”:
Unfortunately for Kecman, sometimes when you criticize someone without knowing knowledge of the situation, you need up making a complete fool out of yourself because it just so happens that Mayfield had a legitimate excuse for being late:
Showing up late? What would you do if your mom had gone to the hospital? Get outta here. Family before myself always.

We don’t know exactly what happened to Mama Mayfield, but we hope she’s okay. As for Kecman, he quickly deleted the original tweet and issues this apology:
