Pizza Hut Now The Official Pizza Of The NFL After Papa John’s Drops Sponsorship

You won’t be seeing any signature Papa John’s NFL-themed pizza commercials on Sunday next season, and Pizza Hut is now the new official pizza of the league.

Papa John’s terminated their deal with the NFL following a dispute that was ignited when the company blamed the NFL as the reason for declining pizza sales, citing the way in which the league handled the National Anthem protest as a key factor.

The move initiated a PR nightmare for John Schnatter and his company, the their largest chain in the country.

The league’s sponsorship with Pizza Hut is reportedly for more years and more money than the Papa John’s deal.

The new deal will begin on April 1, and Pizza Hut will begin its marketing campaign around the NFL Draft, which takes place April 26-28.
