FS1’s Jason McIntyre Criticizes Baker Mayfield For The Stupidest Thing Ever

On Thursday night, Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield came off the bench following an injury to Tyrod Taylor and proceeded to help the Browns comeback and beat the New York Jets, 21-17, giving the Browns it’s first victory in 635 days.

Mayfield was steller, completing 17 of his 23 passes for 201 yards. After a debut like that, you would think people would have nothing but positive things to say about Mayfield. However, you would be wrong.

During an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Jason McIntyre, who’s been a heavy critic of Mayfield gave the worst critic of the Browns rookie quarterback:

Yes, McIntyre criticized Mayfield for carrying his cellphone:

My one takeaway from Baker, and he was electric last night, Jets had no tape on him. They weren’t ready. Did you see, after the game, he runs off the field excited. Maybe five minutes later, comes out of the locker room to go on the NFL Network set and he had his phone in his hand.

That was the number one thing I looked at. I was like, ‘What?’ When you look at NFL quarterbacks after the game, they don’t have their phone. Baker Mayfield’s first thought was, ‘Man, I got this win. I got to get on social media and see what people are saying about me.

McIntyre’s take quickly drew reaction on Twitter, including from ESPN host Scott Van Pelt, who also interviewed Mayfield on “SC with SVP” shortly after the game ended:

What a horrible take.
