Hue Jackson Claims He Wanted To Draft Carson Wentz, Patrick Mahomes And Deshaun Watson

Earlier this week, the Browns finally fired head coach Hue Jackson after two and a half seasons and an overall record of 2-36-1.

Jackson sat down for an interview with Mary Kay Kabot of Cleveland.com and basically deflected all blame for the mess the Browns were in, saying things would’ve been a lot better if things went his way:

“Had we been doing in year one what I was able to get us to do in year three, there’s no question we would already be a winning football team. You can’t go 1-15 or 0-16 and have people like you unless you come out and explain to everyone that you’re going to lose. And you can’t say that publicly.”

Part of the reason the Browns were so bad throughout his tenure with the team was the team’s inability to locate a franchise quarterback, despite passing on the likes of Carson Wentz, Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes.

But according to Hue, he wanted all three of those franchise quarterbacks:
