Jon Gruden Claims He Hears People Are “Dying To Play For The Raiders”

Legendary Raiders defensive end Howie Long, who’s currently a FOX analyst sat down with Jon Gruden for an interview this week ahead of tonight’s 49ers-Raiders game on Thursday Night Football.

Among many things discussed were Gruden’s decision to trade WR Amari Cooper and OLB Khalil Mack, two players who were widely regarded as building blocks for the Oakland Raiders.

Now, Gruden has five first round picks in the next two drafts and a lot of salary cap space and Gruden told Long that he’s already hearing from people who want to join the Silver and Black and be part of this long-term vision.

“I’ve got a cell phone just like you and everybody else, and I get a lot of phone calls from people who are dying to play for the Raiders, who’s 1-6 to start his second tenure. “I’m just telling you, they’re dying to play for the Raiders. To have salary cap space, to have a chance to talk to the people you really want in Silver and Black and represent this team, that’s exciting.”

Even if this were to be true, it’s is tampering.

But despite that, Gruden has the draft picks and financial flexibility to build the roster he wants as many expect significant roster turnover as Gruden continues to prepare this team for it’s move to Las Vegas.
