REPORT: Ex-Oregon WR Keanon Lowe Stopped Gun Man At Portland High School

Not all heroes wear capes.

On Friday, a Portland-area high school was nearly struck by tragedy after a student brought a gun to school with the intentions of harming others.

Those plans thankfully never came to fruition thanks to heroics from Parkrose High School football Keanon Lowe, who also played college football at the University of Oregon.

According to TMZ Sports:

Former Oregon Ducks stud Keanon Lowe is being touted as a hero today … Portland high school students are praising the ex-WR for stopping a gunman who was near campus Friday.

Lowe — one of Marcus Mariota‘s favorite targets back at Oregon — reportedly tackled a man with a gun near the tennis courts at Parkrose High School in Northeast Portland.

Unclear what the man’s intentions were — cops have yet to say his motive — but Oregon Live reports, “a parent said students reported that the suspect, a fellow student, had brought a gun to the school with the intention of committing suicide.”

Lowe spent five years at Oregon, redshirting the 2010 season and playing for the team from 2011 to 2014. In addition to winning two Rose Bowls with the Ducks, he caught 68 passes for 891 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The Portland native took over as Parkrose’s head football coach in February 2018. He guided the school to the state’s Class 5A playoffs with a 5-4 regular-season record.

Lowe is also the team’s track and field coach.
