Carolina Panthers Fire Head Coach Ron Rivera

Ron Rivera is out in Charlotte.

The fourth coach in Panthers franchise has been relieved on his duties Tuesday after nine seasons with the team.

Rivera finishes with a 76-63 record as coach of the Panthers, leading the team to three division titles and a 2015 Super Bowl appearance.

Panthers owner David Tepper released a statement on the matter saying, “I have a great deal of respect for Ron and the contributions he has made to this franchise and to this community. I wish him the best. I will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the Carolina Panthers.”

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Panthers’ secondary coach Perry Fewell has been named Carolina’s interim head coach with offensive coordinator Norv Turner transitioning to special assistant to the head coach, and quarterbacks coach Scott Turner will serve as offensive coordinator.
