Colin Kaepernick Celebrated “Unthanksgiving Day” And Blasts USA For “Stolen Land”

While many of us celebrated Thanksgiving last Thursday, surrounded by family, football and food, former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick spent Thursday another way.

Kaepernick posted this video on his Twitter account of himself participating in an “Unthanksgiving Day” event on Alcatraz Island which is where Native American activists gather every Thanksgiving to commemorate “indigenous resistance”

Spent the morning at the Indigenous People’s Sunrise Ceremony on the 50 year anniversary of the Occupation of Alcatraz. The US government has stolen over 1.5 billion acres of land from Indigenous people. Thank you to my Indigenous family, I’m with you today and always.✊🏽 pic.twitter.com/6cTuktUlQN

The event is intended to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Native Americans occupying the famous island, which previously served as the site of a federal prison.

Kaepernick also attended the event in 2017.
