Tom Brady has been at or near the top of NFL jersey sales for the better part of the last two decades, and with he QB switching teams this season, it was inevitable that his sales would skyrocket with a new fanbase looking to root on perhaps the greatest quarterback of all time. Brady of course signed with the Buccaneers, bringing old pal Rob Gronkowski out of retirement to join him.
Just a few hundred miles southeast of Tampa where Brady signed lies the Dolphins, whom have been looking for any semblance of a quarterback similar to what they had with Dan Marino since Marino retired in 2000. Enter Tua Tagovailoa. With the fifth overall pick in this year’s draft, the ‘Phins took the man they believe has the potential to be another Marino for the franchise, and apparently the fans think so too.
Brady’s move to Tampa combined with Gronk’s move and the drafting of Tua has the state of Florida securing nine out of the top ten spots for NFL jersey sales prior to the 2020 season (per nflshop.com)
