The New York Giants made a surprising move on Wednesday, firing offensive line coach Marc Colombo.
The move comes as a surprise to many as the Giants offensive line had been playing really well during the team’s last two games. But as Mike Garafolo of NFL Network pointed out, the improved line play was in large part because of head coach Joe Judge’s increased involvement with the team’s offensive line:
What makes this story bizarre is that there was reportedly a physical confrontation between Joe Judge and the now former Giants offensive line coach Marc Colombo. According to Jason McIntrye, Judge and Colombo got into an actual fistfight this morning:
The Giants disputed this report, saying that Colombo was not happy with the decision and there was a verbal altercation, but nothing physical:
The Giants replaced Colombo with Dave DeGuglielmo who was the former Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins offensive line coach.
