Dabo Swinney Accuses Florida State Of Faking COVID-19 Concerns To Avoid Playing Clemson

On Saturday, Florida State abruptly postponed it’s game against the Clemson Tigers over COVID-19 concerns and Dabo Swinney thinks the 2-6 Seminoles used the coronavirus as an excuse to avoid playing No. 4 Clemson.

Florida State didn’t want to play after Clemson discovered an offensive lineman, who traveled with the team to Tallahassee, tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday:

Dabo Swinney was straight to the point in his Sunday teleconference saying that, "This game was not cancelled because of COVID, COVID was just an excuse to cancel the game. To me the Florida St. administration forfeited the game."

Dabo Swinney is really upset: "This game was not canceled because of COVID. COVID was just an excuse to cancel the game." Says FSU administration forfeited the game. If FSU wants to play Clemson, they can home to Death Valley, he says. Or they can pay for Clemson's travel.

Swinney, “We should have played. We’ve mitigated everything all year long. This game was not canceled because of COVID. COVID was an excuse to cancel the game."

The game was postponed less than four hours after it was scheduled to kick off.

Both teams have dealt with coronavirus outbreaks. Florida State coach Mike Norvell missed time earlier this year after he was diagnosed with COVID-19, and Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence was set to make his return to the field after missing two games with the virus. Clemson also had dozens of players infected with the virus in the spring.
