The Washington Football Team will keep their same name for the 2021 season.
On Tuesday, the team announced that they will keep the same name, uniforms and logos for the 2021 season while launching a website that will chronicle the team’s name change that will now happen in 2022.
“We’ve transitioned from our old name. Now it’s time to write a new legacy. The future of Washington Football arrives in 2022,” a statement on the website read.
Fans can also submit their own suggestions for a new name on the website. The website is also displaying some logos and names suggested by fans.
Washington was forced back in July 2020 to change their nickname, removing the term, “Redskins,” from its name after many years of controversy surrounding it.
