BREAKING: Jets Have Traded Sam Darnold To Panthers

Sam Darnold is on the move.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the New York Jets have agreed to trade QB Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for three draft picks:

The move paves the way for the Jets to select a quarterback with the No. 2 pick in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft. Many expect them to take BYU’s Zach Wilson. The Jets selected Darnold with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, trading up from the No.6 spot to select the USC quarterback.

Darnold’s tenure in New York has been a disappointing one, playing in 38 of 48 games, throwing 45 touchdowns to 39 interceptions. He had an overall record of 13-25 as the Jets starter.
