The situation between the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers seems to be getting worse and worse by the day.
The latest news to come out is that Rodgers has been telling prospective free agents that he wouldn’t be in Green Bay in 2021, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
“What I’m told from multiple sources is that Aaron Rodgers was telling prospective free agents, basically, ‘Before you make any decisions — I’m probably not gonna be here,’” Garafolo said. “He was telling them, I’m told, all the way to the beginning of last season. That was in the months after the team had drafted Jordan Love.”
Packers offensive lineman David Bakhtiari still signed an extension with the team anyway. It should be noted that Rodgers and Bakhtiari are close friends.
Garafolo also said he had heard similar stories of Rodgers referring to GM Brian Gutenkest as ex-Chicago Bulls GM Jerry Krause that The Athletic’s Bob McGinn had reported.
The Packers have no interest in trading Rodgers, but if he is doing everything he can to force a trade, they likely won’t have an option.
