Robert Saleh Hilariously Forgot That He Was The HC Of The Jets During Team’s First Minicamp Practice

It didn’t take long for Robert Saleh to have his first “rookie mistake” moment.

The New York Jets hosted their first rookie minicamp of the offseason on Friday which was Saleh’s first as a head coach after being hired in January by Gang Green. Once the final horn sounded on Friday’s practice session, the Jets rookies waited for their head coach to dress the team and wrap up the day.

But Saleh was channeling his inner defensive coordinator and waiting for the head coach to take center stage, just as he has throughout his entire coaching career. It took him a second to remember that it was his turn to take on that role:

Saleh will begin his first year as the Jets head coach. He previously spent four seasons as the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers. The Jets are hoping they’ve finally found the right head coach in Saleh and the right franchise quarterback in Zach Wilson, who the team drafted with the No. 2 overall pick in last week’s 2021 Draft.
