The Buccaneers and Cowboys appear to be in mid-season form, and NFL officiating might be too.
Part way through the second quarter of the NFL’s highly anticipated Cowboys-Bucs season opener, a minor scuffle broke out between Tampa Bay Center Ryan Jensen and a Dallas defensive lineman.
After the lineman shoved Jensen in the face, a flag was called for unsportsmanlike conduct. Immediately after, Jensen taunted him, and under the NFL’s new taunting policy, got rewarded himself a 15-yard penalty.
The two penalties offset, but it appears as if the officials were simply making up what they would announce the penalty situation as to the crowd and upstairs.
