REPORT: Urban Meyer Has “Repeated Issues” With His Temper And Has Become “Unhinged” In Jacksonville

Urban Meyer hasn’t coached an NFL regular season game yet and he has been in the headlines far too many times.

The Jaguars open the 2021 season on Sunday against the Houston Texans. The three-time national title winning college football coach has already had “repeated issues” in Jacksonville, according to CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora.

“There have been repeated issues with other coaches on staff, with Meyer’s temper and lack of familiarity with the ebbs and flows of the NFL calendar rubbing the Jacksonville Jaguars staff and players the wrong way, the sources said. There is a disconnect at times between the members of the staff with extensive pro experience and those who lack it, and morale has suffered as the outbursts have continued. His fiery remarks to players and coaches after games have already struck many as bizarre.”

“He has everyone looking over their shoulders already,” one source told CBS. “He becomes unhinged way too easily, and he doesn’t know how to handle losing, even in the preseason. He loses it and wants to take over the drills himself. It’s not good.”

Unfortunately for the Jags, there is a disconnect between coaches from the different backgrounds, per La Canfora. Meyer has also “lashed out at his staff” and even questioned their job security before the start of the regular season.

The coach reportedly took the preseason very seriously.

If things don’t change quickly, one has to wonder if Meyer’s tenure in the NFL could be cut short.
