The Cleveland Browns are hobbled at their most important position.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Baker Mayfield is playing through a partially torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder.
Mayfield suffered the injury iN Week 2 while making a tackle after an interception during the team’s win over the Houston Texans:
That injury might just explain how poorly he played against the Minnesota Vikings where he completed just 15 of his 33 passes, missed several wide-open receivers, and finished with a 59.5 passer rating. He missed WR Odell Beckham Jr. several times on the day, but the team still managed to win 14-7.
The 2018 first overall pick will look to rebound this Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
So far in 2021, the 26-year-old has appeared in four games for the Browns and completed 65.5 percent of his passes for 935 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
