Martellus Bennett has never been shy to discuss any topic.

The former NFL tight end and Super Bowl Champion said he received death threats and other “hateful messages” from Green Bay Packers fans after protesting during the national anthem in 2017.

Bennett posted a series of tweets on Saturday expressing his belief that his short stint with the Packers came to an end in part because of his decision to protest:

Bennett played 10 seasons in the NFL, most notably for the Dallas Cowboys from 2008-2011 and the New England Patriots in 2016, where he was apart of the 2016-17 Super Bowl team.
