Browns HC Kevin Stefanski Tells Team That Odell Beckham Jr. Is Not Apart Of Team Right Now

The Odell Beckham Jr. tenure in Cleveland is coming to an end.

According to Mike Silver, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told his players that the Odell Beckham Jr. is not on the team right now as the team told the wide receiver to stay home and not report to practice:

On Tuesday, Beckham’s father posted a video on social media early highlighting when Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield didn’t throw the ball to Beckham when he was open. Odell Beckham Sr. then responded with three green marks in the comment section of the post that said Mayfield was “either hating on Odell or he just doesn’t want him shining.” Beckham had one catch for six yards during Sunday’s 15-10 loss to the Steelers, which dropped the team to 4-4 on the season.

Sports Illustrated Albert Breer echoed Silver’s report but took it a step further, reporting that the sentiment in the meeting with Stefanski was to be prepared for Odell Beckham Jr to no longer be on the team:

The Browns pas offense has struggled mightily this season, with Mayfield ranking 26th in QBR (43.0) and only has six touchdown passes on the year. Meanwhile, Beckham is 151st in receptions per target and 139th inn receptions per route run. Both Mayfield and Beckham have been playing this season with shoulder injuries.

During his weekly press conference, Stefanski was asked about the report and didn’t deny it, saying: “I would just tell you, again, today he’s excused, and we’ll see where this goes.”

The Browns currently sit at 4-4 and will travel to Cincinnati to face the Bengals on Sunday.
