Refs Blow Prematurely Whistle On Play Where Bengals Score, Somehow Allow TD To Stand

The Bengals are trying to win their first playoff game in decades, and are up comfortably at the half thanks to a touchdown with two minutes left in the second quater.

That touchdown was scored on a rollout Joe Burrow pass to Tyler Boyd in the back of the end zone. But, if you were watching the game with any volume on at all, you likely heard a premature whistle blow while the play was live, which even if an incorrect call, would lead to the play being a dead ball.

Somehow, the refs didn’t correct their error and allowed the play to stand.

The whistle came from the side judge who thought Burrow stepped out of bounds. Burrow was noticeably upset at the ref following the play, indicating he heard the whistle as well.
